DoorBird IP Intercom Video Door Station D2201V | 5MP Camera | Flush or Surface backbox sold separately

The next-generation DoorBird D2201V takes premium IP video intercom performance to an impressive new level. Its upgraded 5-megapixel camera—up from 720p in the previous model—delivers significantly sharper, more detailed video, while enhanced HDR provides clearer identification in challenging lighting conditions, including bright entrances, deep shadows and strong backlighting. Improved audio quality and increased speaker volume make conversations clearer and more natural, while the upgraded dual-frequency RFID reader provides faster, more reliable credential recognition for effortless everyday access.

Expanded integration options make the D2201V more powerful and flexible than ever. New Wiegand and Bluetooth connectivity allow integration with a wider range of access-control systems and mobile credentials, while configurable inputs give installers greater freedom to tailor the intercom to each property. Combining a durable stainless-steel design, illuminated call button and advanced DoorBird technology, the D2201V is an ideal solution for homes, offices and commercial properties requiring exceptional video, dependable access control and future-ready integration.

Backbox

This model requires a backbox for installation, which needs to be added to the order separately.

Please choose Flush backbox if you want the Doorbird to mount in a cavity in a wall so the fascia is 'flush' with the surface, OR order a Surface backbox if you want to simply attach the Doorbird to the surface.

DoorBird D2201V IP Video Intercom

The DoorBird D2201V IP Video Intercom is the next generation of DoorBird’s premium single-button door station, combining high-resolution video, clear two-way communication and flexible access control in one beautifully finished unit. Designed for prestige homes, gated properties, offices and commercial entrances, the D2201V allows you to see and speak with visitors using the DoorBird app, compatible indoor stations or supported SIP devices—whether you are inside the property or away from home.

Designed and manufactured in Germany, the D2201V is available in an extensive selection of stainless-steel, architectural-metal and powder-coated finishes. It retains the quality and understated appearance for which DoorBird’s D21 and D22 Series intercoms are known while introducing substantial technology improvements, including a new 5-megapixel camera, improved HDR, clearer and louder audio, upgraded RFID performance, Bluetooth access, Wiegand connectivity and configurable inputs.

A major improvement in video quality
The most noticeable upgrade is the new 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera, replacing the 720p camera used in the previous model. The additional resolution produces a considerably sharper and more detailed image, making it easier to identify visitors, vehicles and activity around the entrance. Improved High Dynamic Range (HDR) provides better image balance in challenging lighting conditions. This is particularly useful at entrances where a visitor may be standing in shade with bright daylight behind them. Integrated infrared LEDs and automatic night vision maintain visibility after dark, providing a clear view of the entrance throughout the day and night.

Clearer, louder two-way communication
The D2201V features upgraded audio performance with improved sound quality and greater speaker volume. Visitors can hear you more clearly at busy entrances, roadside gates and other locations where background noise can make conversation difficult. Integrated echo and ambient-noise suppression further improve two-way communication through the DoorBird app or a connected indoor station. When a visitor presses the illuminated call button, the intercom can call smartphones and tablets running the free DoorBird app, compatible DoorBird indoor stations and supported SIP phones. You can see who is there, speak with them and release a connected door or gate from virtually anywhere.

Improved RFID and Bluetooth access
The upgraded dual-frequency RFID reader supports compatible 125kHz and 13.56MHz credentials, providing faster and more dependable access for up to 3,000 authorised tags. Credentials can be administered remotely, allowing access permissions and schedules to be updated without visiting the intercom.
Bluetooth Low Energy provides an additional modern access option and supports compatible DoorBird Bluetooth Remote. These access methods make the D2201V suitable for family homes, offices, warehouses, clinics and secured vehicle entrances where reliable keyless entry is required.

The D2201V does not include an integrated keypad. If PIN-code access is required, consider the DoorBird D2201KV.

Built for professional integration
New Wiegand, OSDP and RS485 interfaces make the D2201V easier to integrate with compatible third-party access-control platforms. Configurable inputs allow installers to connect and monitor supported external devices or signals, providing greater flexibility when designing a complete gate, door or security solution. Two freely configurable bistable relays can independently control doors, pedestrian gates, driveway gates or other connected equipment. Time schedules and event-based actions can also be created, allowing the system to perform functions such as releasing a door during business hours, activating an external light or sending an HTTP request to another system. DoorBird’s open API and SIP support provide extensive integration possibilities with smart-home, building-automation, access-control and video-surveillance systems. Supported integration partners include Control4, Crestron, KNX, Loxone, RTI, Home Assistant, Synology, QNAP, Yale, Nuki and many more.

Intelligent monitoring and visitor history
The integrated 4D motion sensor can detect movement at an adjustable distance of up to 10 metres. Motion events can trigger notifications, capture visitor activity or initiate programmed actions, depending on the system configuration.  DoorBird provides free visitor image history, while optional Cloud Pro services can add video recording and other enhanced features. This enables the D2201V to operate as more than a video doorbell—it can become an active part of the property’s entrance-monitoring and access-control system.

Reliable PoE network connection
The D2201V connects to the network using wired Ethernet and must be powered using compatible IEEE 802.3at PoE+ Mode A or Mode B. Power and network data are carried over a single Ethernet cable, simplifying installation and providing a dependable wired connection. Where only existing doorbell wiring is available, a compatible DoorBird two-wire Ethernet PoE converter may provide an alternative connection method. The D2201V does not accept a separate local power-supply input, so the required PoE+ equipment should be confirmed before installation.

But Why Doorbird?

There's a few reasons why we believe Doorbird is the best option. It isn't the cheapest, and it isn't the most expensive, but it does have the best value and most options.

German precision, engineering, and design

3mm Stainless Steel fascia's, beautiful lines and aesthetics, and amazing engineering puts Doorbird in another league over plastic 'Video Doorbells' made in China

Built and Conceived as IOT

Many alternatives are old analogue technology, with a quickly conceived internet add-on. Therefore they can be troublesome and inconsistent. Try adding a touchscreen, air conditioning, and cruise control to a '72 Valiant, you'll get what we mean.

Video and Audio, but also Access Control

Other brands can see your visitor, and talk to your visitor, but that's only half the game. Most alternatives can't let your visitor in. What's the point in being able to answer the door when your at work, see it's your sister, talk to her, but then not be able to let her in? Particularly if it's to get a start on dinner! Access Control is the functionality that brings value to the video and audio element. All Doorbird models have at least 1 x relay that can open doors, gates, motorised driveway gates, or garage doors.

Plays nicely with others

Most brands only integrate with Google or Alexa. Handy, but when you break it down there really aren't that many things you can do with that connection. Doorbird integrate with many brands of home Control System, CCTV, SIP Phones, and Smart Door Locks. These are functional integrations that bring many real benefits when connecting with your other technologies. Doorbird are progressive, and offer an open API to encourage cooperation with other brands and technologies in your home.

Choices Galore

Make a statement or blend right in, mirror your elegant gate or match your bold coloured front door. While some brands have 1 or 2 colour options, Doorbird has 5 options in most models, and 50+ in particular models.  Not only that, but almost every Doorbird comes in surface mount or flush mount. With extensive colour and finish options, Doorbird lets you make a statement, or subtly accentuate an architectural motif.

Design your own

50+ colours and finishes and surface or flush mount options not enough? You need to fill a particular space or match a certain feature? Doorbird have an online configurator that allows you to design your own fascia and layout. No other brand can customise their intercom to suit exactly what you need. See the configurator here.

Doorbird often gets compared to products such as Ring and Arlo Video doorbells. It shouldn't. For all the reasons above it is a very different product to those plastic devices that share some similar technology. That's not to say those products aren't good, but if even one of the points above resonates with you, then there will be no comparison.

Doorbird should be compared with brands such as 2N. However if it is, the value, technology, and range will make it a clear winner.
